The outer edges of front and ties are finished with a narrow hem which makes this a good project for building hemming skills. Pattern, fabric, thread and elastic are all that is necessary to be stylish on a hot summer day. Fabric, pattern and supplies need to be purchased prior to class start. Young sewers will learn how to take their measurements, read a pattern envelope and pattern instructions, handle fabric, use tools, follow and cut a pattern along with construction and finishing techniques. Threading the sewing machine, winding the bobbin, machine safety and how to use the machine is reviewed. How to insert elastic along with proper pressing techniques will be taught. Fabric, elastic and thread will be purchased at the end of the first class. The total cost for these supplies can range from approx. $16 to $27 depending on which fabric is chosen. The teacher will show students which fabrics are appropriate for the pants and point out the price. Please advise your child on how much he/she should spend or please feel free to join the class as fabrics are chosen and guide your child to a fabric with a price you are comfortable with. Using scraps of fabrics from Fabricland�¢ï¿½ï¿½s stash or their own along with various trims, buttons and notions kids will have fun creating as many original bracelets as time allows.
