[10:30am-1:00pm] Kids Sewing 101

- 4 session class for ages 10 and up (last session)
$107 class fee plus supplies
Kids will learn fundamental sewing skills as he/she makes elastic waist pajama pants. Young sewers will learn how to take their measurements, read a pattern envelope and pattern instructions, handle fabric, use tools, follow and cut a pattern along with construction and finishing techniques. Threading the sewing machine, winding the bobbin, machine safety and how to use the machine is reviewed. How to insert elastic along with proper pressing techniques will be taught. Fabric, elastic and thread will be purchased at the end of the first class. The total cost for these supplies can range from approx. $16 to $27 depending on which fabric is chosen. The teacher will show students which fabrics are appropriate for the pants and point out the price. Please advise your child on how much he/she should spend or please feel free to join the class as fabrics are chosen and guide your child to a fabric with a price you are comfortable with. All fabrics are priced per yard.
Required prerequisite: Kids Can Sew Workshop. Supply list given upon registration.

[1:00pm-4:00pm] Sew Your Own

Mon Aug 23 - Thurs Aug 26, 1 - 4pm
Students will chose their own pattern, buy the needed materials and supplies, and make a garment following the pattern directions themselves. Our teacher will assist interpreting directions as needed. Prerequisite: Kids/Teens Can Sew Workshop, Sewing 101, 102 Sewing Techniques or other pattern classes with teacher’s approval. Students must know how to use the Bernina 230 sewing machine used in class.

[4:00pm-6:30pm] Kids Sewing 102

$100 class fee plus supplies
Mon Aug 23 - Thurs Aug 26, 4:00pm - 6:30pm
Using a pattern, kids will make a cute a-line short skirt with darts and a zipper closure. More sewing techniques will be learned along with how to sew in a zipper and getting the right fit and length (three lengths to choose from). Fabric, pattern and supplies need to be purchased prior to class start. Prerequisites: Kids Can Sew Workshop and Kids Sewing 101.
[6:30pm-8:30pm] Roman Shades

A Roman Shade is simple yet updated in styling and complements many decors. The fabric forms soft pleats along the lower edge, draping gently to soften the otherwise tailored look. The style has only two columns of rings, making it quick to construct. In this class you will learn how to make one insulated relaxed Roman Shade with a fabric front for a small single window. Come prepared with your desired finished window size. Please purchase fabric and supplies at Fabricland prior to start of class. Sewing machine at home is necessary for any homework. Supply list will be given upon registration.
