[10:30am-1:00pm] Kids Sewing 101

- 4 session class for ages 10 and up (third session)
$107 class fee plus supplies
Kids will learn fundamental sewing skills as he/she makes elastic waist pajama pants. Young sewers will learn how to take their measurements, read a pattern envelope and pattern instructions, handle fabric, use tools, follow and cut a pattern along with construction and finishing techniques. Threading the sewing machine, winding the bobbin, machine safety and how to use the machine is reviewed. How to insert elastic along with proper pressing techniques will be taught. Fabric, elastic and thread will be purchased at the end of the first class. The total cost for these supplies can range from approx. $16 to $27 depending on which fabric is chosen. The teacher will show students which fabrics are appropriate for the pants and point out the price. Please advise your child on how much he/she should spend or please feel free to join the class as fabrics are chosen and guide your child to a fabric with a price you are comfortable with. All fabrics are priced per yard.
Required prerequisite: Kids Can Sew Workshop. Supply list given upon registration.

Kids can add some personal style to their bedroom décor with this fun class. They will make 3 different pillows using multiple coordinating/contrasting fabrics. A standard size pillow case using two different cotton fabrics, a colorful patchwork pillow cover with a zipper closure which will also be an introduction to quilting techniques. The third is a pillow and cover with corded trim and tie closures. Decorative machine stitches will quilt and embellish the projects. Pattern, measurements and instructions will be provided. Fabric and supplies need to be purchased prior to class start. Prerequisite: Kids Can Sew Workshop and Kids Sewing 101

(First class is 30 minutes shorter)

Your teen will learn how to take their measurements, read a pattern envelope, handle fabric, use notions, follow instructions and cut a pattern along with construction and finishing techniques. Threading the sewing machine, winding the bobbin, and machine review will be covered. How to make a drawstring along with proper pressing techniques will be taught.
