For youngsters ages 10 - 18 (elementary through high school) who are very interested in taking their sewing skills and fashion design experience to a higher level, Project Fabricland is an exciting and rewarding experience. Since 2007, we have presented Project Fabricland – a sewing class/competition and fashion show for kids based on the popular TV series Project Runway. Cast members from the TV show have appeared at the fashion show as special guests to hand out prizes and sign autographs and the judges are industry professionals. Net proceeds from ticket sales are donated to charity.

Project Fabricland is a three month course that requires each student to take these prerequisites::

All students work with a commercial pattern, but "personalize" it by creating an outfit that has been influenced and inspired by a specific theme chosen each year. During the sewing course, students are instructed on pattern alterations, garment construction and finishing techniques. Students are also required to create a design/inspiration board and keep track of the cost of their garment(s).

The contestants are judged on inspiration, overall appearance, quality of sewing, use of fabrics and trims and the design/inspiration board. At the end of the fashion show, gift certificate prizes totaling $2,000 are awarded to the top winners in different age groups.
