SEWING EXPERT MARTHE
YOUNG
PRESENTS PROGRAM TO
ASG MEMBERS
Massachusetts designer and artist,
Marthe Young -- a freelance educator for
Bernina Sewing Machines --
presented a two-hour seminar to members of the
Clifton/North Jersey chapter
of the American Sewing Guild last month at
Nassaus Window Fashions in
Paramus, New Jersey, as part of the store's grand
opening of its new Sewing
Machine Department.
The forty members who attended the
program enjoyed Marthe's expert advice
on sewing machine mastery -- which
included instruction on using the new
Bernina Model 180. This machine
incorporates computer software that enables
the sewer to embroider and
create a multitude of artistic designs on fabric.
In addition to her
role as an educator for Bernina sewing machines, Marthe
has designed a
wonderful collection of patterns called "My Sister's
Patterns". Her most
recent work for Bernina can be seen on design cards,
"From Head to Toe, Hats
and Shoes" and "Just Desserts".
Following the seminar at Nassaus,
members of the Sewing Guild were treated to
a box lunch and bus trip to
Fabricland in North Plainfield, the "sister
store" of Nassaus -- compliments
of owner Bruce Heyman. The day proved to be
a very enjoyable "fabric
and sewing adventure" for members of ASG and Mr.
Heyman hopes to work
closely with the organization in planning more special
events in the
future
