           AUTHOR AND SEWING EXPERT TO PRESENT FREE SEMINAR



Lisa Shepard, an author, columnist and marketing consultant to the home sewing and fabric industry, will present a free seminar at Fabricland in North Plainfield on Thursday evening, November 15 from 7 to
9 p.m. Based on her new book, "Global Expressions: Decorating with Fabrics from  Around the World", Lisa will lead an exciting and enlightening sewing trip  by demonstrating how to make a variety of home decor projects using different  techniques and fabrics from many continents around the globe. She will also discuss the cultural and historical significance of each fabric and the people who create them, give tips on shopping for special textiles, offer helpful hints on  caring for fabrics and more.  

Ms. Shepard is also the author of "African Accents", a book that won the Craftrends 2001 Award of Excellence in the quilting and sewing book category. In addition to designing home decorative projects for companies, she writes a bi-weekly column for the Star Ledger's Home and Garden section.
