On Saturday, August 9^th from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, a free two- hour "hands-on" beginner sewing class will be held at Fabricland, 855 Route 22 in North Plainfield for children ages 9 through 15. Chris Gonch, the store's Sew Help coordinator and a home economics teacher, will conduct the class.

During this workshop, participants will learn how to thread a sewing machine and bobbin, how to sew straight, securing, pivotal and circular stitches, as well as learn how to measure, cut and pin fabrics and patterns. Each child will sew a fashion accessory at the program.
