HURRICANE SANDY RELIEF EFFORTS AT FABRICLAND
For almost 80 years, Fabricland has provided service to our community through many different channels - fundraisers, collections, events and donations. After Hurricane Sandy hit NJ on October 29, 2012, our staff reached out to our loyal customers with a "Call to Action" in several ways:
Charging Stations: Area residents were invited to our sewing school to warm up, use our sewing machines and charge up their electronic devices until their power was restored.
Food Bank of Monmouth & Ocean County Food Drive: Over the weekend of November 9-12, we asked our customers to bring in canned goods and non-perishable foods for Sandy Survivors in South Jersey. Our team delivered 20 boxes to the facility in Neptune.
Operation Sew Fleece: With patterns donated by Simplicity and polar fleece from Fabricland and Needlecraft Inc., this event was held on Saturday, Nov. 17. More than thirty area residents – both adults and kids – came to our sewing school to cut out, assemble and sew up forty-five blankets, twenty hats, five vests, five robes and five pet coats – all of which were distributed to the Borough of Belmar, NJ – one of the hardest hit communities along the Jersey Shore.
Holiday Party Donation: In lieu of this annual event for employees, Bruce Heyman, president of Fabricland, will donate the $1,000 to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund coordinated by New Jersey's First Lady, Mary Pat Christie.
